Hi, I’m Nicole SAmmut.

Hello everyone, and thank you for being here!

I’m the founder of The Doors of Ottawa, a local business dedicated to celebrating and sharing the city’s built heritage through guided walking tours, lectures and educational experiences.

The Doors of Ottawa began in 2014, while I was teaching Canadian architecture through Carleton University’s Lifelong Learning Program. As part of the course, I created and published the Doors of Ottawa poster, featuring 24 sacred and secular doors from across the city.

What began as a teaching resource soon became a way to encourage residents and visitors to explore Ottawa, look more closely at its architecture and discover the stories behind the buildings around them.

That same sense of discovery is at the heart of The Doors of Ottawa today. I’ve always been fascinated by the details, styles and stories that give our neighbourhoods their character. Through walking tours, lectures and workshops, I hope to make architectural history approachable, engaging and enjoyable — no previous knowledge required.
